Women Over Time: Slaves To Society

VICTORY WAITS ON YOUR FINGERS- KEEP ‘EM FLYING, MISS U.S.A.

This photo (To the left) comes off as more of an encouragement to keep women in the work force and it also makes it seem as though the women really enjoy what they are doing and have no issues or complaints. This photo states a lot about this woman, the fact that the woman in this poster is saluting shows that she supports the war and she is willing to do whatever she needs to do to help keep the war times easier for society and the men while they are away fighting for their country. Then there's the title of the photo, “VICTORY WAITS ON YOUR FINGERS..” That one portion of the title basically states that the only way for society to be successful and run smoothly is if the women step up to the plate and start working and taking some initiative to make a difference.

The second portion of the title “...KEEP ‘EM FLYING, MISS U.S.A.” The title calls the woman in the photo 'Miss U.S.A.' who was and still is viewed as a perfect woman that represents everything The United States stands for. With that being said that one portion of the title puts that woman back in her old persona of the quiet stay at home wife that listened to the commands of her husband, she is still being viewed as someone that does what society needs and commands her to do it says that she still acts the way society needs her to act and thinks the way society needs her to think. Which goes back to the point that women were slaves to society, they were there to do what they were told and they were suppose to be as perfect as possible while they did it.
